The Journey to Acting

Dana Mardini is a Syrian actress, but her story goes beyond the screen.

Trained at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, her work reflects discipline, intention, and a deep respect for the craft. She does not chase visibility or rush into roles; she chooses them with care. She watches. She listens. For Dana, acting has always been an exploration of what lies beneath the surface — rather than what is obvious.

Career Highlights

Screen, Stage, and Recognition

A lot of people know her from television. Qalam Humra, Sanaoud Baad Qaleel, Tango. These were the projects that made audiences stop and pay attention. In 2019, her performance in Tango earned her the Murex d’Or for Best Arab Performance. It mattered, but it never became the reason she kept going.

Theatre has always stayed close. Even when TV was busy. Dana performed on stage, worked deeply with improvisation, and took part in international theatre workshops. She represented Syrian theatre at the Avignon Festival in France and performed in Marseille and Avignon. Those experiences shaped how she works. You can feel it in her timing, her stillness, the way she lets moments breathe.

Stepping Back and Moving Forward

She also spent time teaching acting. Returning to the same institute where she once studied, she worked with third-year students. Not as someone giving lectures, more as someone sharing experience. What works. What doesn’t? What takes time?

Then she made a choice. She stepped away from television. Quietly. On purpose. It wasn’t a pause from art, but a conclusion. The closing of one chapter to explore her craft more deeply. In its place, she turned toward spaces that allow deeper exploration, theatre and cinema, where time, presence, and intention matter.

These days, Dana moves differently. She’s selective. Thoughtful. Her presence, including online, is calmer and more intentional. Less noise. More meaning.

This website reflects that phase. Nothing flashy. Nothing forced. Just a place that holds the work, the pauses, and everything still unfolding.
